What is the PDF Compressor?

Scanned documents and image-heavy PDFs can easily balloon past an email attachment limit or a portal's upload cap. This tool renders each page, re-compresses it to a shared JPEG quality — automatically adjusted with the same binary-search approach as our image resizer — and rebuilds the PDF until the whole file lands inside your target KB range.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Upload the PDF you want to shrink.
  2. Set a Min and Max target size in KB.
  3. Click Compress PDF and download the result once it's ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this PDF compressor work?

Every page is rendered as an image and re-compressed to a shared JPEG quality level, automatically adjusted (like our image resizer) until the whole PDF lands inside your target KB range.

Will this work well on any PDF?

It works best on scanned or image-heavy PDFs. Text-heavy PDFs get converted to images in the process, so selectable/searchable text is lost — for text documents, this trade-off is usually only worth it when file size matters more than text selection.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Rendering and compression happen entirely in your browser.
